GOAT MILK SOAP
Goat milk soap is a natural, toxin-free alternative to “commercial” soaps. Our goat milk soap is made from all natural ingredients, the first being our hand milked, raw goat milk from our registered heard of Nigerian Dwarf goats.
Goat milk offers many health benefits, which is why soap made with raw goat milk can help balance your skin’s overall health and is wonderful for people with dry or sensitive skin. Goat milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids which help remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Alpha-hydroxy acids are effective exfoliators because they break down the bonds that hold dead skin cells together. Regular removal of these dead skin cells helps remove irritants and encourages healthy skin development (source: “Clinical and cosmeceutical uses of hydroxy acids” in the 2009 Journal of Clinical Dermatology). Goat milk has also been found to contain several vitamins and minerals. Goat milk contains 11% of the NRV for vitamin A, which is necessary for the body to repair damaged skin tissue. When used topically, such as in goat milk soaps, it can help reduce acne. It also contains 17% NRV of potassium, which can enhance the moisture and feel of your skin. This moisturizing quality is why people with dry skin, eczema, and psoriasis look to our goat milk soaps to find relief (source: Nutrient Reference Value’s found in “McCance and Widdowson’s The Composition of Foods”).
Worried about the effectiveness of goat milk soap at killing germs and bacteria? A 2016 study published in the Journal of Biological Research and Applied Sciences found that organic goat milk soap was just as effective at removing pathogens from the skin (such as E.coli and salmonella) as commercial soaps that contained synthetic ingredients. Not only that, but the study found that goat milk “is effective for treating acne and skin infections [and] it has antimicrobial properties that delays growth of pathogenic organisms.” This is great news for those of us who already love goat milk as a soft, hydrating alternative to harsh commercial soaps.
